Potential Rift Emerges: Hilderman’s Criticism of Bobi Wine Over UGX 34 Billion Funding Sparks Controversy
Should any tension arise between Dr. Hilderman and his mentor, Bobi Wine, potentially leading to discord and possible consequences, it would not be unexpected. Hilderman’s recent criticism directed at the prominent National Unity Platform (NUP) figure might have serious repercussions.
The legislative body is firmly convinced that Bobi Wine’s criticism of Eddy Kenzo regarding the UGX 34 billion received on behalf of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) stems from ignorance. Nevertheless, to exercise caution, the musician-turned-politician partially accepts responsibility, clarifying that he failed to brief Bobi Wine about the ‘yellow’ cash distributed to musicians through investment Saccos.
The legislator asserts that he consistently advocated for government funds for the music industry and was pleased when the funds were finally released by President Museveni. Despite being unable to inform Bobi Wine about the fund’s allocation, he distances the blame from the principal, attributing it to Kiyanga. In an interview with a local television station, as the Shadow Minister of Arts, he emphasized his continuous efforts to encourage government investment in the industry, asserting that the money is intended for all artists, not just Eddy Kenzo or a specific group.
