In a dramatic development affecting the National Housing and Population Census 2024, a self-styled ‘Jesus’ named Navers Veran has been remanded to Butuntumula Prison. Veran, the leader of the King of Star Glopper of Eden Church, was arrested for obstructing census enumerators from carrying out their duties at his home in Luweero District.

The incident occurred on May 13, 2024, at Luyima village in Katikamu sub-county, where Veran and his followers refused to participate in the census, citing their religious beliefs. The confrontation led to Veran’s arrest, along with Erishani Day Gresher, and their subsequent remand to prison.

The court did not grant bail as the prosecution was not ready with the case file particulars. The duo will reappear in court on May 29, 2024, for further mention of the case.
