The reopening of the legislative council in Yei River County has drawn calls for responsible leadership and strong legislation.

Fr. Emmanuel Lodongo Sebit, Secretary General of the Catholic Diocese of Yei, urged lawmakers to work together to develop laws that reduce violence and protect communities.

“We must carefully discuss the laws we create so they help address deaths and other problems in our county,” he said.

Local leaders believe the council’s return could help strengthen governance and resolve long-standing disputes affecting residents.
